    How to Use

    1. Enter total marketing AND sales spend for the period — include salaries, tools, ads, and agency fees.
    2. Enter the number of NEW customers acquired in the same period (don't count renewals).
    3. Read your CAC. Compare against your average Lifetime Value to confirm LTV / CAC ≥ 3.
    4. Then measure your return on ad spend by channel, and check your burn rate runway to confirm you can afford to keep paying CAC.

    Formula Explained

    CAC = Total Sales & Marketing Spend / Number of New Customers Acquired
    Total Spend
    = Ads + salaries + tools + agency + creative production within the period
    New Customers
    = Net new logos/buyers in the same period — exclude renewals and expansion

    Worked example: $10,000 spent in a month, 50 new customers acquired. CAC = $10,000 / 50 = $200. If average LTV is $700, LTV / CAC = 3.5 — healthy.
